M/V Hatteras ( LCU 1488 )
Vessel was used by the NC Ferry Service for pile driving and repairs to fender systems along with core sampling.

Vessel was brought in and moored on own power, was in service as of 9/01/2005. Port and Starboard Gunwales and cap rails replaced with new. Hauled and surveyed 7/12/2006 where underwater body was cleaned and repainted with Jotun anti fouling paint. All hull zinc's were replaced and additional ones install to protect 200 sq. foot sections. All three propellers, propellers shafting and bearings were inspected and found in good condition, Same for all 3 rudders. Hull plating was gauged on 24 inch centers and found to be 95% or better of original thickness. Above waterline plating was inspected and repaired were needed. All side shell plating was prepped, primed and painted. All voids and compartments were cleaned of debris washed and dried. All bolt down access deck covers were removed for void inspection and sealed with new gaskets. Fuel was removed before haul. Hull doublers around main engine exhaust ports need replaced but still functional.

3. LIQUID CAPACITIES

a. Three-fuel oil tanks with a total capacity of 3,525 Gallons. There is no fuel on vessel
b. One potable water tank with a total capacity of 9,564 Gallons

4. AUXILIARY EQUIPMENT

a. Microphor MSD system model M-50.
b. 2 each Bilge/Ballast pumps flomax-15.
c. 2 each Quincy air compressors with one receiver.
d. FHP energy system heat pump system unit model SL045.
e. Fire pump (data plate unreadable).
f. Potable water pump with Hydro tank
g. Elliot 15 person life raft last serviced in April 2006
All items above are still operational in good condition.

5. LIVING ACCOMMODATIONS

a. 1 Head with shower and two stainless steel basins
b. Four burner stove with oven (one rack) in Galley. No refrigerator but open spot for one.
c. Double basin Stainless steel sink and over the head and under counter cabinets in Galley.
d. Large Dry stowage area adjoining Galley with built in shelves.
e. Two Berthing areas lower berth sleeps 6 upper one berth quarter under pilothouse. All berths have metal Clothing lockers for each rack. No mattresses.

Note: Engines are in good shape and all run. Main engine hours are unknown.. Starboard Marine gear stuck in Forward direction. Vessel can still be safely maneuvered.

7. DECK OUTFITTING

a. All cleats, bollards and cargo deck tie downs in good usable shape
b. Structure for aft deck sun cover in good shape. (minor repairs needed some of the upright bases)
c. Port Spud functional Starboard spud missing.
d. Cargo deck estimated size is 31 ft Wide by 75 ft long. 14.4 ft ramp door access width.
e. Maximum cargo load 189 short tons.
f. Coring well is approximately 18” diameter and located in center of deck just forward of mid ships.
